Wednesday, June 16th, 2010
Built in wardrobes have long been admired, but out of reach due to high prices. The wonderful ease of simply closing the big doors to conceal everything is amazing. Plus, the many shelves, and drawers make organization much more achievable. And now the costs are coming down to reasonable levels, so their popularity will definitely rise.
However, there is one word of caution to be mentioned regarding these sensational additions. The built in closets need to be looked after, or you will end up with stains, scratches and caked on dirt. So, avoid the downfall of these wonders of carpentry by putting down shelf liners before you ever even put one single item into the unit. The paper can be found in any colour or pattern imaginable, and replaced when need be for very little cost.
This will save the wood, or laminate when liquids spill, such as perfume or nail polish. It will also protect it from the dirty soles of shoes, and their potentially scratchy heels. Plus, the standard where and tear will be minimal all because you took the time to put down some decorative paper.
To say that this simple task is worthwhile is an understatement of the highest degree. Just do it.
